Gone are the days when men’s grooming was limited only to haircuts and shaving. Today, men like to look after themselves too. They do not hesitate in pampering themselves with pedicures or booking a skin therapy session at the spa. In fact, more and more men are getting used to the idea of being as well-kept and groomed as women.
Picture this – you’re the most talented guy in your office and your future looks extremely bright. However, none of your colleagues share a laugh with you, your boss almost always overlooks you, and you’ve never had a girlfriend. You’ve realized that this is because of your un-ironed shirts, dirty nails, greasy hair and a disheveled appearance.
The point I’m trying to make is that grooming does matter. The first impression is often the last one. You don’t want to put people off simply because you’re not groomed well enough!
Here are a few grooming tips for men interested in looking great at all times.
While we usually see women slathering moisturizers on themselves, men need to do use it too. This applies to sunscreens as well. Both these products are essential to prevent your skin from drying out, sagging and to protect it from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
Don’t make the mistake of using women’s products on your skin, though. You need to opt for products that are especially formulated for men’s skin.
It is also important to keep your skin hydrated and a high-quality moisturizer or lotion can do just that. Apply it generously all over your body after a shower. Don’t hesitate in using a chapstick if your lips get dry.

Aside from keeping your skin hydrated, you also need to keep it clean. Do take a shower every day with a moisturizing body wash/soap intended for use by men.
Also, use a good cleanser on your face to get rid of the dust, grime, sweat and other build up due to pollution. Letting it stay on your skin can result in acne and pimples. The facial skin is very sensitive, so do not clean it with soap as it can have a drying effect.
If you have skin disorders, do get them treated.
Do a steam facial once every week as it leaves your skin looking clean and glowing. Further, drink at least 2 liters of water every day to keep your skin supple and radiant.
3.Treat Your Hair with Respect
Taking care of your hair is as important as taking care of your skin is. Keep it clean by washing it with a moisturizing shampoo. If you have mild dandruff, use an anti-dandruff shampoo. Severe and stubborn dandruff may require medical attention.
Don’t forget to condition it to reveal a smooth and shiny mane. If you have long hair, maintain it well and avoid using heating methods without using a serum first.
Get your hair cut at regular intervals. Choose a style that suits your face.
If you see strands of grey hair and want to dye them, get it done professionally to get the shade right. If you’re comfortable flaunting your natural greys, like George Clooney and Richard Gere, go right ahead.
4.But Get the Extra Bit Out
Make it a point to get rid of unwanted and excessive hair. The common problem areas include the nose, the ears, the neck, and the eyebrows.
Get your eyebrows trimmed if you find them to be too thick or bushy as this will open up your eyes.
Ask your barber to carefully clear the hair off your ears and neck. You don’t want unsightly hair jutting out of the collar of your shirt, do you?
As far as nose hair is concerned, you can get rid of it yourself with a nose hair clipper. If you think people don’t notice nose hair, let me tell you, they do!

Long and dirty fingernails are a big turnoff. If your budget and time permits, try getting a manicure and/or pedicure done every month to keep them looking good. If not, simply trim and file them neatly at home.

A good smile is a big turn-on for women and having healthy teeth can ensure that you flash your pearly whites confidently. It doesn’t matter if they aren’t perfectly straight or blindingly-white; what matters is that they are clean.

We all understand the importance of smelling good, and who would want to emit a dastardly odor, especially around other people? Using a good deodorant after a bath can help those who tend to sweat profusely. Applying a perfume (that doesn’t smell floral or fruity) can also work wonders.
However, be careful in your use of fragrances. While it is alright to smell good, you should not reek of perfume. Do spritz it on yourself, just don’t bathe in it.

Wearing clothes in accordance with your age, body type and the occasion will go a long way in making you look great. Do invest in a quality wardrobe. Wearing clothes that fit well can make a world of difference to your appearance.
Try and make the time and effort to match your clothes and accessories. For example, if you’re wearing a black belt, wear black shoes and not brown ones.
And yes, your shoes need to be clean and polished. Whether you’re wearing formal shoes or casual ones, they need to be tidy as opposed to tattered, scraped and filthy.
Apart from that, get your posture and body language right. Doing so will project you as man who is confident and secure.
As you can see, good grooming need not be an expensive or a time-consuming affair. A few simple changes can make all the difference. Being well-groomed not only improves your appearance, but also keeps you healthy. Looking good from the outside comes from feeling great on the inside.
